Helen Boothby
Participant Teacher on the Royal Society of New Zealand’s Science Teacher Leadership Programme
Helen Boothby, a Science teacher at Hornby High School at the time, spent nearly 6 months working with our group in 2017. She was a Participant Teacher on the Royal Society of New Zealand’s Science Teacher Leadership Programme, funded by the MBIE. Helen had been teaching for 14 years, and prior to this worked in a range of outdoor and ecological roles. She was supervised by Dr Jamie Wood and participated in a wide range of projects. By being a participant teacher, Helen gained insights into how scientists collaborate with each other, and how they communicate with the wider community.
